Soccer in Flint has always been exciting. From my early childhood in Flint playing city league games at Atwood. Then in high school playing every year in the Southwestern classic. Heading down to Kick it Around sports in Flint to get the new cleats and gear for the year. Soccer has always been in Flint. So when it was anounced that the Michigan Bucks were coming to Flint as the newly rebranded Flint City Buck FC alot of people were excited.
When they picked the newly remodeled Kettering Atwood stadium to play games in it was a perfect match. Atwood is Flint soccer. To kick off the season Flint City Bucks FC brought in their cross state rival Detroit City FC from Hamtramic. For a friendly game.
The fan turn out for the game was good over 3 thousand fans showed up. The fans in the stands were into the game with both teams fan clubs leading chants and singing. The game was back and forth with each team getting chances early. Flint City had a late first half rush in which the Detroit City goalie was injuried. Just before the half Flint City scored. The only goal of the first half was enough to win the game 1-0. With Flint City getting ready to open their regular season the team looks strong and the fans are ready. Flint City Bucks FC is geared up for a succesfull season and I'm sure Flint will get its kicks watching high end soccer.
Flint City Bucks FC soccer has arrived.
