Last minute changes didn't stop the party for Hemi'N'Sanity in Michigan.

Dream Cruise week in Detroit means that it's time for round 5 of the Modern Street Hemi Shootout in Michigan. For the last two years, the MSHS event Hemi 'N' Sanity was held at Milan Dragway but due to some unforseen issues the venue was moved to the new Lapeer International Dragway. Lapeer opened it's gates to the MSHS crew on short notice and didn't skip a beat. With just under 100 cars the racing went into the night under the new lights at Lapeer International Dragway. With this change, Dan Vanhorn promoter of MSHS said, "Lapeer stepped up in our time of need and came through in a big way. Staff went above and beyond all day and worked late into the night to finish our program 2 hours beyond our schedule! We will be back...."

Hemi 'N' Sanity is round 5 in the MSHS series and racers came from all over to race Friday in Lapeer and enjoy the Dream Cruise on Saturday. One racer drove his Jeep all the way from Seattle, Washington 2000+ miles to take part in Hemi 'N' Sanity. CJR performance came over from Canda to win one class in the event.

With racers from Washington, Ohio, New York, and Canada among others Michigan showed up in force to take top spots including Dawn Kasner winning the rookie class. One exciting event of the night was a husband and wife grudge race between a Modified Hellcat and stock Demon. The wife won in her Hellcat. Fridays event were a complete success and concluded around midnight, Race results can be found here.

Saturday also had some changes that would take the Hemi'N'Sanity Dream Cruise lot to the next level. Saturday, the action moved from Lapeer to Pontiac for the Woodward Dream Cruise with a special guest.

Dodge partnered with MSHS to bring out their new cars and had two different displays. Dodge unveiled the new limited edition Hellcat Widebody Daytona Charger which is limited to 501 cars to honor the original Daytona which had to make over 500 to meet requirements to race in Nascar. The lot was full of cars and there was a carshow and dyno on the lot. The burn outs on Woodward seem to last all day. I meet up with Dave Hayes, from BigBadAmericanMotors on youtube, to get a ride in his 2018 Demon on Woodward. Dave Hayes hosts events where guests can ride in his Demon on the Dragstrip. He says "I want people to experience the feeling of these cars on the strip". We drove around Woodward doing burnouts for the crowd. Dave was just one of many people that love their cars and the MSHS experience.

With Saturday ending, the MSHS family, yes family, these racers come from far and wide, even in the face of change, to enjoy racing and each other. Everyone helps each other to make it the most fun experience possible win or lose its about enjoying the CARS and FAMILY. If you get a chance to take part in a MSHS event I would strongly encourage it. You will make friends that will last a life time. MSHS moves on to Virginia Motorsports Park for more fun in round 6. See you guys next year for more HEMI'N'SANITY!
